Things to do in Haugesund

Haugesund sits about 85 km north of Stavanger, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by car or bus with Kolumbus, and works best as an overnight base rather than a day trip if you also want time on Karmøy.

The town itself is a modest former herring port with a walkable harbourfront, a handful of Art Nouveau buildings, and a norm of grey skies — Rogaland's roughly 1,180-1,250 mm of annual rain doesn't stop at the Stavanger city limits.

Expect a few hours of wandering the centre, a coffee by the water, and maybe the Norwegian Film Festival in August, before heading out to the Viking-era sites on neighbouring Karmøy, which have their own separate page here rather than being folded into this one.
