City walking tours

Guided walks through Gamle Stavanger's roughly 170 preserved 18th- and 19th-century wooden houses, the colourful shopfronts of Øvre Holmegate, and the harbour at Vågen cover the compact old town on cobbled streets, easily managed as a half-day loop. Stavanger Cathedral, consecrated around 1125 and the only medieval Norwegian cathedral still standing without a major rebuild, sits on most routes. Self-guided and small-group formats both run, since the city centre is small enough to see most of it on foot.
